Here’s a simple and classic cake recipe that you can follow at home — no fancy ingredients required. It’s a basic vanilla sponge cake, which you can eat as-is or use as a base for layered cakes.


🎂 Basic Vanilla Cake Recipe

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) sugar

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) butter (softened)

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk

🍳 Equipment:

  • Mixing bowls

  • Electric mixer or whisk

  • Measuring cups/spoons

  • 8-inch round cake pan (or loaf pan)


🧁 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease and flour your cake pan.

  2. Cream the butter and sugar

    • In a bowl, beat sugar and butter together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

  3. Add eggs and vanilla

    • Beat in eggs one at a time.

    • Stir in vanilla.

  4. Combine dry ingredients

    • In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder.

  5. Mix wet and dry

    • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.

    • Add milk slowly and mix until smooth. Don’t overmix.
